Wealth Management Services

Managing wealth becomes more complex as life evolves. Whether you are approaching retirement, have accumulated significant assets, or are navigating a liquidity event, such as the sale of a business, an inheritance, or a share disposal, the decisions you make will shape your long-term financial future.

Wealth Management with Smith & Pinching

At Smith & Pinching, we bring over 50 years of experience helping clients make informed, confident decisions at these pivotal moments. Our approach is grounded in financial planning — taking the time to understand your full financial position, your objectives, and the wider implications of each choice — before building a strategy designed to support your long-term goals.

We typically work with individuals and families with investable assets of £250,000 or more who are seeking clarity and structure for their wealth. Our experience spans a wide range of scenarios, from retirement planning through to more complex situations involving business exits, intergenerational planning, trusts, and estates exceeding £10 million.

What sets us apart is not only our technical expertise, but our perspective. As an employee-owned firm, with advisers who have supported clients — and in many cases personally experienced — significant financial decisions, we understand both the practical and personal considerations involved.

We act as a trusted partner, bringing together investment, tax, and estate planning into a coherent strategy, and working alongside your other professional advisers where appropriate. Our focus is simple: to ensure your wealth is structured to support your life, both now and in the future.

Why Choose Smith & Pinching?

Choosing the right financial adviser is about more than qualifications — it is about experience, judgement, and the ability to guide you through important decisions with clarity and confidence.

At Smith & Pinching, our strength lies in the depth of our experience across a wide range of client situations. We work with individuals approaching retirement, trustees managing family wealth, and business owners navigating the sale of multi-million-pound companies. This breadth gives us a valuable perspective — we understand not only the technical complexities but also the practical considerations that come with significant financial decisions.

As a Chartered and independent firm, our advice is focused solely on achieving the right outcome for you. We are not tied to any provider, allowing us to deliver strategies tailored entirely to your circumstances.

We take a long-term, relationship-led approach, working closely with you and your other professional advisers to ensure your financial affairs are aligned. The result is a clear, considered strategy, supported by a team with the experience to guide you through each stage of your financial journey.

People buy from people, and people like buying from people they like! Smith & Pinching have that special knack of employing very amiable people who are experts in their field and are a pleasure to deal with. After being a very happy customer for more than 30 years, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Services We Offer

Our approach to wealth management is built around clear, structured financial planning, supported by the technical expertise required to manage increasingly complex financial situations.

Retirement Planning

We help you understand what your future could look like and how to get there. Using detailed financial modelling, we provide clarity on when you can retire, how much you can spend, and how to structure your assets to support a sustainable income throughout retirement.

Investment Management

Your investment strategy should reflect your goals, time horizon, and attitude to risk. We construct and manage portfolios designed to support your long-term objectives, with access to our discretionary fund management team for more tailored mandates, including individual stock portfolios where appropriate.

Tax Planning

Effective tax planning is central to preserving and growing wealth. We advise on a wide range of strategies, including the use of pensions, ISAs, and more specialist solutions such as Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs), Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS), and Business Relief (BPR), where suitable.

Estate Planning

We help ensure your wealth is passed on in line with your wishes. This includes planning around Inheritance Tax, the use of trusts, and structuring your estate to provide for future generations in a controlled and efficient way.

High Net Worth & Family Planning

For clients with more complex needs, we provide advice across a wide range of scenarios, including family investment companies, intergenerational wealth planning, and structuring around significant asset or business sales. We regularly work with estates in excess of £10 million and act as a central point of coordination, working closely with accountants and solicitors to ensure all aspects of your planning are aligned.

Getting Started with Wealth Management

We believe good financial planning starts with a conversation — not a commitment.

For most clients, the first step is an informal meeting. This gives us the opportunity to understand your current position, what you are trying to achieve, and whether we are the right fit to work together. There is no pressure to proceed. In many cases, we build relationships with clients over time, supporting them as and when key financial decisions arise.

Where appropriate, the next step is our Explore Planning Report — a fixed-fee service designed to provide clarity before any long-term decisions are made. This typically ranges from £750 to £1,500 + VAT, depending on complexity. Through this process, we bring together your assets, income, and objectives into a structured plan, often supported by detailed cash flow modelling. For many clients, this is an invaluable step in understanding what is possible and identifying the most effective way forward.

If you decide to proceed, we move into implementation — putting agreed strategies in place across investments, tax planning, and estate structuring where appropriate. We then establish your ongoing plan, providing regular reviews and acting as a consistent point of guidance as your circumstances evolve.

Our role is to support you over the long term, helping you make informed decisions with confidence at each stage of your financial journey.
