Planning for a secure financial future is not something that should be left to instinct or chance – that has become particularly clear over the past few months as we’ve seen everything normal turned upside down.
Independent financial advice is a critical part of making sure that the financial framework you build around you and your family is fit for purpose. However, it’s not something that is done once and never revisited: it’s important to keep your financial strategy under regular review to ensure that it’s still suitable in the light of any changes in your circumstances as well as events both in the UK and worldwide.
Financial planning is all about identifying what’s important in your life and supporting you in making good decisions at the right time. It’s about mapping a course that is flexible and achievable: finding the right pensions and investments and building a protection screen around you that will keep you financially safe if something goes wrong.
Financial advisers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Make sure you only seek advice from an authorised firm: you can check out a firm on the FCA Register at https://register.fca.org.uk/. Some firms of Financial Advisers are Chartered Financial Planners – the highest designation awarded to firms by the Personal Finance Society. Chartered firms have a commitment to their staff achieving the most advanced levels of qualification within the profession and to a rigorous code of ethics.
