ISA

Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) are available as either Cash or Stocks & Shares and they are a popular and simple way to save.

An ISA is simply a tax wrapper for an investment fund, which can be invested in a variety of sectors, such as cash, bonds, equities and property. The main benefits of ISAs are that neither the ISA nor the individual has a liability to capital gains tax or income tax, there is no minimum or maximum term to which you must subscribe and there are no penalties for withdrawing money. They are subject to investment limitations, however.

The flexibility and tax benefits of ISAs make them a useful investment planning tool. As examples, they can be used as cash savings accounts, medium to long term investments and part of pension planning. The market for ISAs is extremely large and competitive and the range of funds available is vast. It is for these reasons that it is very important that you take advice on your ISA investments, in order to ascertain what type of ISA is best for you and how to make the best use of it within your overall portfolio.
